One Body

In this time leading up to Pentecost, Jane speaks of a stirring taking place that is a deep work of God. A work taking place in each of us that is part of God's longing for deeper relationship with us. And in this, it is moving us toward the fulfillment of John 17:21; that we become One Body, in a way we have not seen yet.

John 13:34-35
So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”

As we fall more in love with The Lord, our love for other Christ-followers will also deepen. Regardless of our differences, we should be characterized by the unity and love we have for each other through Christ.

  • How has the time of separation deepened your personal love for other believers?
  • Have you experienced an increased sense of unity or divide among other believers?

I don't remember if Chuck said this, or if it was Ray Hughes, or if it was Lance, but one of those guys was talking about Pentecost, at which you mentioned Rick, and he he said at the time to press in, and to to really (I’m not gonna say this well) value the blood of Jesus. It’s like something so deep and inward, that I don't have words for, but it's definitely a longing and desire that he do something fresh in me. And I've been praying that over the whole of Aglow - just a fresh outpouring on our ministry so that we not get or stay in a groove that we’re used to. Remember the word that the Lord gave me the first of the year? Be expectant I had no idea what that meant, but as we approach Pentecost, that word continues to come back and back and back, about being expected. He’s giving us new levels of promises, and I I don't know, I didn't hear that like Christmas is coming. It’s more like going for the gold, going for the treasure in the field. It's not surface things and it's not that we can't ask for, perhaps, needs that we have work. So, I’m not I'm not discounting that, but I think, linked with that, is something deeper that God is stirring within us because it would please him and he longs for a deeper, more intimate relationship with us. A new baptism of the Spirit was mentioned and again he felt that there is an awakening in the body of Christ.

So as we are in a ways separated distance-wise, we're not in the office together and yet, each of us in our quarantine or in our confined places, are feeling this stirring of the spirit. And it's truly the Lord, it's not something we're trying to ramp up, it's God. I was reading, or hearing something, or maybe I was just remembering something I've read which I think it was Ashur talking about…what's the name of his book… “Alignmen”. And how God is going to align the body of Christ, and we are going to see John 17 come to pass, and we are going to become one body in a way that we have not yet seen. And it's interesting, several of you have said in this time of separation, everyone is enjoying, well it seems, that everyone is enjoying that space of time to be alone to know about your daily tasks and yet, you feel the presence of God in a different way. It's like you're communing with God. You can be vacuuming and communing with God. You can have quiet times and commune with him, but it's like a 24/7 thing that's happening and it's like to two things simultaneously. We're longing for human connection. God's doing that in us to make us one.
