Our Spiritual Weapons and Armor Part I
Introduction:
As Christians we are engaged in a war more insidious than World War l and ll, the Korean War, Vietnam, and our war with Iraq. While those mentioned are physical wars, ours is a spiritual war between Jesus Christ and His armies and that of our arch-enemy Satan and his hordes.
No knowledgeable commander sends his troops into battle without equipping them with all the armor and weapons they will need to wage a physical war. Jesus, as our spiritual commander, is no different; He has provided us with the weapons and armor necessary to wage spiritual war. Our duty is to pick them up and put them on. The Christian who launches into battle inadequately prepared is foolish indeed and often must pay the price for his foolishness.
There is one important difference between the world's warfare and the spiritual warfare Scripture tells us we are engaged in.

The Belt of Truth
In contrast to the heavy metal covering the Roman soldier’s lower body, the Christian’s loins are to be covered with the belt of truth – the truth of Jesus Christ. The loins speak of our Christian walk. One purpose of the belt or “girdle” was to strengthen the loins for strenuous activity. Another purpose was to protect such parts of the abdomen as were not already protected by other protective coverings. So truth – the truth of Jesus Christ – becomes a protection from the blows of the enemy.
The Hebrew word for “truth” means “to be permanent and established.” The Greek word denotes veracity, reality, sincerity, accuracy, integrity, truthfulness, dependability, and propriety. It is something on which a person may confidently stake his life.
The Bible has much to tell us about truth.
