Air Supremacy
In the first half of 1967, Egypt and other Arab nations surrounding Israel began making threatening moves against the vastly outnumbered Israeli military. Their aggressive moves reached a head in June, 1967 when the Egyptian, Syrian, and Jordanian militaries looked poised to swarm Israel and overwhelm it.
In response, on June 5, 1967 Israel launched pre-emptive airstrikes, virtually destroying the entire powerful Egyptian air force and giving Israel air supremacy. With air supremacy established, the much smaller Israeli military soundly defeated the larger militaries of the opposing nations, killing over 20,000 troops while only losing fewer than 1,000 of its own AND taking new territory from Israel’s enemies.
As God demonstrated through Israel, air supremacy is a key to victory. There’s a difference between air superiority and air supremacy, terms often used synonymously.
Air supremacy is the top position in air control in war, where a side holds complete control of air warfare and air power over opposing forces. It is defined by NATO as the opposing air force being incapable of effective interference throughout the entire war. Air supremacy means one side holds total domination over the other.
Air superiority is the second level, below air supremacy, where one side is in a more favorable position than the opponent, but not domination.
At Aglow’s 50th Anniversary Global Conference in Richmond, Virginia, Dutch Sheets prophesied,
I am hearing Holy Spirit say that the praying church - the apostolic, prophetic, praying church here and around the world has now established air supremacy over the enemy. It is not that we did not have it theologically and positionally, but now we have it in practice.
Now we have it more than in theory, just Biblically. Now we have moved into this place of strength. We have moved into this place of authority. We have moved into this place of revelation to where Holy Spirit can now say to us, “You have air supremacy! Now go deal with the enemy and relentlessly drop bombs from the Heavenlies on him until he is no longer able to resist you.”
I want to say to you,… Aglow all over the world, God has given us air supremacy and we are now no longer only going to move in the priestly aspect of intercession, we are going to marry it with the kingly aspect of intercession. We are not just priests who offer up petitions, we are not just a priesthood that worships, we are not just priests that go and ask and represent planet earth to Him, we are now moving in to the royal priesthood area. The Melchizedek order of kings and priests. A Kingdom of priests where we represent the King from up there, seated with Him, and we are not just going to ask as priests, we are going to decree as kings. (No longer praying like a widow, but a bride.)
We are going to make our decrees and where we have been quoting, You will decree a thing and it will be established, we are going to do more than quote it now. We are going to decree a thing and we are going to watch the situation change.
- We are going to decree that walls around nations are coming down and then we are going to watch them come down.
- We are going to decree that evil systems controlling the minds of men and women around the world will now be dismantled by Holy Spirit, and then we are going to watch them be dismantled.
- I heard Holy Spirit say 25 years ago when I did not fully understand it at the time, You will fully shift this nation when the praying church fully shifts from priestly intercession to kingly intercession as well.
We are at war
Ephesians 2:1-2 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.
Ephesians 6:11-13 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Ephesians 2:6-7 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the Heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages He might show the incomparable riches of His Grace, expressed in His kindness to us in Christ Jesus.
Practical Application
Graham Cooke has said to us that a time is coming when we will spend our hour of prayer in 50 minutes of worship with 10 minutes of prayer and we will accomplish what is on the Father’s heart because during our time of worship, we tuned into the conversations taking place in Heaven and then began to declare phrases and statements from those Heavenly conversations into the atmosphere. What if against this type of prayer, there is no defense? What if declaring the conversations taking place in Heaven are a public outworking of air supremacy? What if this is the place your group is moving to? In worship, receiving strategy from Heaven that dismantles strongholds in your community? Why not your town?
