Go to the Well – Part Two
In Part 2 of this series, Jane Hansen Hoyt invites us to a place of greater trust in the Lord; a place where Holy Spirit can comfort, encourage and bring revelation we've never seen before. Listen as Jane, in her graceful and humble way, urges us to enter into an unfolding experience that changes us day after day and leads us to a higher place in the Lord.
2 Corinthians 4:7
We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves.
When we do life with Jesus, He promises to sustain us and carry us through - even when people and things of this world fail us. We have tendencies to put Jesus on the back burner, until we've run out of other options, but He is calling us to partner with Him and seek Him first, in all situations.
- What are some areas in your life where you need to trust Him more and surrender parts of your heart to Him?
- What are some temporary things you have placed your hope in that have eventually disappeared?
TRANSCRIPT:
In our staff meeting today as we sang, ”O for grace to trust him more”, that's a phrase that could forever and always be on our lips because we need grace, his grace the work of his spirit. We need that expectation, that longing, that need to point us to Jesus. And as we look to Jesus for that need, or that expectation to be met, we find ourselves on a journey of discovery. It’s like looking for the treasure in the field - it's forever searching him out. By his Spirit, that makes the discovery of him eternal very real - brings us to a place in our walk with him that brings us up higher. And it's not elevation or some kind of haughtiness that we want in. Well I discovered and I know this, it's not that at all.
It’s very humbling to realize what your flesh seeks after and how you go about getting that need met. And when it fails, you're left with what feels like nothing. And then the Holy Spirit comes and says let me help you. Let me point you in the right direction. Let me lift you up. Let me wrap you in my arms. Let me comfort you. Let me encourage you. Let me bring a revelation to you that you've never seen before, that will change your life and your expectations forever. So in our walk with him, our prayer is “o for grace to trust him more”. It’s an unfolding walk, an unfolding revelation. It’s an unfolding experience, but it changes us day after day after day.
Let his grace be at work in your life today. God, do that work in us, by your Spirit, so that we don't look to people and things - that we look only to you. Thank you How Spirit for doing that work in us. We marvel at what you do. For in Jesus’ name. Amen. Thank you
