Don’t Be a Chicken

Listen as Graham Cooke reveals that it's not when things are going well that we rise up. It's when things are NOT going well that we have the greatest opportunities. We are training to be the best we can be on our worst day! Don't be a chicken with your wings clipped; worship God in the midst of your circumstances. He will lift you up; YOU are an eagle.

1 Peter 2:21
For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you.
He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

What sets us apart as Christ-followers is how we choose to rise up and act, despite our circumstances. It is an intentional act of choosing joy and hope in the Lord because we know He will continue to carry us and lift us up.

  • How can we lean into hard situations and allow God to display His glory and power amidst difficult times?
  • How can we shift our perspective to one of worship amidst trials, rather than a victim mindset?

Don't you be walking around like a chicken with your wings clipped. When you're an eagle you're meant to rise up, and the circumstances of your life is where you rise. We don't rise up when everything's going well. We rise up regardless. You're not here to be the best people in the kingdom. You're not training to be the best people in the kingdom. You're training to be the best people in the kingdom. On your worst day, that's who you are you're trained to rise up. On your worst day in the worst of circumstances, nothing's changed. Check yourself out. Is Jesus still Lord? Yeah? Well then shut up, no place for whining, complaining, being anxious, being negative, it's totally unnecessary. I think we just need to cut it out altogether. It’s completely unnecessary, it's a waste of time to be fearful and anxious when peace is so dramatically sensational. It's a waste of time to be negatively minded when the mind of Christ is so astonishing.

We get opportunities when things are against us that we don't get when things are for us. That's a great attitude, I think, and in Christ that is who we are. We don't bow down to anything or anyone, except Father,  Son and Holy Spirit. That's majesty and when we become focused on his exalted self, our worship goes to a whole different place of exaltation. It's time for some of us to stop worshipping the Lord through our pain and worship him above it, above our circumstances. Stop fighting your way through to get to a place of freedom where you can worship. Worship God where you are, he will lift you.
