Bring Peace

As the world continues to shake and things don’t happen as expected, Jane Hansen Hoyt reminds us to be peace bringers. “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all else is sinking sand!”

1 John 4:4
But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.

In the midst of the chaos swirling around us, we as Christians can hold to the unwavering hope and peace of Jesus. Others will be drawn in to the peace that surrounds us through the Holy Spirit, based on our response to circumstances.

  • Have you experienced a situation where you should have been knocked down/swayed, but your foundation on the Lord carried you through?
  • How do you remain firm in your faith amidst hard seasons?

Just recently, I received word, such an encouraging word, related to another nation, that felt so directed of the Lord, to be in prayer for the United States of America on election day. So they took a group and went to the U.S. Embassy and they stood, in the rain actually, in front of the U.S. Embassy and interceded for the United States of America. That is so humbling. It is so beautiful, it is so needed.

I was thinking of an old hymn that my father loved to sing and I can hear his beautiful Irish, baritone voice. Listen to these words: “my hope is built on nothing less, than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. I dare not trust the sweetest frame but wholly lean on Jesus’ name”. And here's the chorus: “On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand” and it repeats it again, “all other ground is sinking sand”. You know that's true - in every area of our life, not just politically, or governmentally, or times when elections are held, or something big seems to take place. It means that every day of our life, we can live in peace, we can lean on the righteousness of Jesus. It's not our righteousness, it's his righteousness, and therefore as that chorus so beautifully states, it's on Christ, who is the solid rock, that I can stand because all other ground is sinking sand. So today, let's agree together that as we walk together in the Lord, as we walk together, just showing forth the Kingdom of God, we want to be peace bringers. We want to show the world this is what it looks like, not a phony religious way, this is the real stuff of how you can walk in what appears to be troubled times or changing times because you stand on a solid rock. His name is Christ Jesus. All other ground is sinking sand. Stand firm.
